Who's behind it
Built by Jan Hilgard — building infrastructure since 2002.
I founded the hosting company Hosting90 in 2002 and ran it for eighteen years — from a garage to a 25-person team running its own servers — until its sale to WY Group in 2020. Today I contribute to the open-source inference engine vllm-mlx and build self-healing data infrastructure. This API runs on that stack, including a proxy pool I built and operate myself.

FAQ
SERP API questions, answered.
What is a SERP API?
A SERP API (Search Engine Results Page API) runs a live Google search for you and returns the results page as structured JSON: organic results with their ranking position, title, URL and snippet, People Also Ask questions, ads and the AI Overview. You send one HTTP request instead of running browsers, proxies and HTML parsers yourself.
Does the API return Google AI Overviews?
Yes. Every /v1/search response can include an ai_overview object with the full answer as markdown and plain text, the ordered list of cited sources (position, title, URL, domain) and a per-domain citation roll-up. When Google shows no AI Overview for a query and market, the response says so explicitly with present: false.
How much does the Google SERP API cost?
Pricing is per 1,000 successful queries and depends on whether you need the AI Overview. Organic SERP only (include_ai_overview: false): $0.80 on Starter (up to 1M queries a month), $0.50 on Growth (1M–10M) and $0.30 on Scale / Enterprise (10M+). SERP + AI Overview: $1.20, $0.80 and $0.50. The AI Overview rate applies only when an AI Overview is actually delivered — if Google shows none for the query, or extraction fails, you pay the organic rate. Only HTTP 200 responses are billed — blocked requests and failed attempts are free. New accounts get 5,000 free test requests, issued instantly after e-mail confirmation, no credit card.
Which countries and languages are supported?
Set country (Google gl) and language (Google hl) per request. Supported countries: us, gb, de, fr, es, it, nl, pl, cz, sk, at, ch, ca, au, in, br, mx, jp. Supported languages: en, de, fr, es, it, nl, pl, cs, sk, pt, ja. For local SEO add location (e.g. "Austin,Texas,United States") or lat/lng to get results as seen from that city; the API verifies the location Google reports and never returns results for a different place. More markets are available on request.
Can I use it as a rank tracking API?
Yes. Each organic result carries its 1-based position, the registrable domain and the displayed URL, so daily rank tracking is a matter of querying your keyword list per market and storing position by domain. To track beyond the top 10, send page: 2 up to 10 (positions 11–100) while has_next_page is true; each page is a separate request at the organic rate. The AI Overview citation list lets you track AI visibility the same way.
Is this a SerpApi alternative?
It covers the same core job — live Google results as JSON over a simple HTTP API — with a focus on AI Overviews and their citation graph, transparent volume pricing and billing only for successful requests. Integration is a single POST endpoint, so switching usually means changing one URL and a few field names.
How fast is a request?
Organic results typically arrive in about 2 seconds. The AI Overview takes longer — around 15 seconds — because Google renders the answer progressively and the API waits until it is complete, so you never get a truncated answer. Send include_ai_overview: false when you only need rankings.
Is there an async mode with webhooks?
Yes. POST /v1/searches queues up to 100 searches in one call and answers at once with their ids. Results arrive on your webhook (signed with HMAC-SHA256 when you set a secret), or you collect them from GET /v1/searches, the list of finished searches, or by id. Each search returns the same JSON as POST /v1/search, at the same price and under the same key limits; only searches that end with data are billed. Results are kept 24 hours.
Do I pay for failed or blocked requests?
No. Only requests that return HTTP 200 with data count towards your usage. CAPTCHAs, upstream blocks, timeouts and retries are handled on our side and are never billed.
